---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eastern Oklahoma Guide Services, LLC took a few of our members fishing near Fort Gibson Lake and Dam to catch spoonbill catfish on 12 October 2022. Our members enjoyed themselves. This company offered their services as a first place prize for our fundraising raffle. They also provide services for disabled veterans. The top photo is a snapshot of their Facebook post of the trip they took our members on. The other photos were submitted by one of the members who went on this trip.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------    These photos were taken on 8 October 2022 during different times of the day at the Sallisaw Cruizin' 64 and Chili Cook-off during different times during the day. Our post and our auxiliary both had booths. Our auxiliary was selling raffle tickets for a 50 caliber stainless steel black-powder rifle as a fundraiser. Our post had several things going. First we were talking to veterans about membership. Second we were selling raffle tickets for a four person fishing trip (the gentleman who is doing this trip offer also does trips and fishing tournaments for disabled veterans) for first place and $100 Walmart gift card for second place as a fundraiser. Third we had a silent auction for a quilt done by the auxiliary and a quilt stand made by one of members as a fundraiser. Fourth we were offering discount coupons from two local pizza places as a fundraiser. The young men in the yellow volunteer t shirts are Boys State candidates who offer their time for our fundraiser. They each took turns wearing a "Captain America" costume when walking about selling raffle tickets. We helped some of the other venders with their booths prior to the event's starting time and when wind would occasionally gust. We do this to show we are helping our community in more ways than people think we do and so we can be seen as more than a bunch of veterans in booths. We are there for veterans and our community. One picture was taken by KXMX (our local radio/television station). The day went well despite the fact that there were other events in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas which attracted a number of those who would normally come to this event.

These photos were taken the day Jim Quinn, the American Legion Department of Oklahoma Commander came to Sallisaw to tour the Sallisaw Veterans Center and to speak with some of our members. The photos were taken by Jess Foreman of the Oklahoma American Legion District 2A.

Today, 7 September 2022, we were visited by the commander of the American Legion Department of Oklahoma, Jim Quinn. With him were Jess Foreman and Tom Russel from the Oklahoma District 2A. Before they had a meeting with some of our members we all went to tour the Sallisaw VA Center. Once there we were also joined by three members from the Stilwell post. We were given a similar tour as the one done with the Sallisaw Chamber of Commerce earlier this year. Those who gave the tour were our same host as previously. The photos may seem like the ones posted the last time but changes have been made despite delays. Descriptions of each photo can be see with them in the post worded like this on our Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/SallisawAmericanLegionPost27

Here are photos from the Post 27 members pool party on 27 August 2022. Some of our members were unable to attend, but everyone attending had a good time. Even "Coach" Stanley Collins, our eldest active member at the age of 92 years young, got into the action. He purposely jumped into the pool at the sallow end. He swam to the ladder at the deep end and climbed out with some assistance. He then got on the diving board (again with assistance) and dived back into the pool. He is a good example of staying young at heart.

Our work day (20 August 2022) to remove old and tattered flags from their poles and replace them with new flags. The old flags will be retired at a later day. The new flags will be used to replace the one plus flags at the Sallisaw City Cemetery at each veteran honored by those who chose to remember them. We also place around town at businesses which support our post for specific holidays. We had a diligent group of people working this day.

These photos were taken on 21 May 2022 at the Boys/Girls State breakfast our unit and our auxiliary held for the students that were going to each program. There were a few young people there who shared their experiences from going previously. A few adults who had attended in their youth shared their experiences and how those experiences still have affect in their lives.

These are photos taken at Sallisaw Diamond Dazes on 7 May 2022. The day started of cool but warmed up quickly. There was a good turnout for this event. We had help from a couple of young men who are going to the Oklahoma Boys State this year. We even had one young man who purchased his raffle tickets and then helped us get more people to but their tickets (he is in the third grade). We were able to see a couple of young kangaroos when they were brought by our booth.

These photos were taken by Martha McCoy prior to and during the 2020 Veterans Day Ceremony held at the Indian Capital Technology Center in Sallisaw.

Today (25 September 2020) was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sallisaw Veterans Center on Hwy 59 South. There was a very show of support from our community and surrounding communities. Many dignitaries were there beside those which were on the platform. The actual beginning of ground work will begin within the next couple of weeks. The Mix KXMX, KOTV Channel 6, Sequoyah County Times and others were there to record this event. Prior to the ceremony there was a parade of support which started on West Cherokee and went south on Hwy 59 to the site. The city of Sallisaw had commemorative coins available for those attending the ceremony.

The images below are from today's event. They are as follows: Artist conception of the front entrance; More artist conceptions and the floor plans for the center; People at the ceremony; Looking toward the platform where the speakers were; Shovels standing prior to groundbreaking; Dignitaries preparing for videos and pictures prior to them doing the ceremonial groundbreaking; Front an back pages of the program; The inner two pages of the program; One side of the commemorative coin; Other side of commemorative coin.

We will watch as construction begins and plan on being at the ribbon cutting ceremony in a couple of years.
